Community High School District 94 Education Foundation Tuition Raffle
Help your child, grandchild, relative, friend with their post high school education costs. Help support a charity serving the students of Community High School. 100% of All Proceeds to the CHS Education Foundation are spent toward student activities and toward striving for educational excellence. $25 Raffle Tickets on sale through the D94.org web store or through a Club/Activity/Team at CHS.
Anyone over the age of 18 can purchase a raffle ticket.
Raffle tickets and winners do not need to be related to a CHS student nor live in the district.
Drawing will be held at the last Boy's home Varsity Basketball game of the season in February 2011.
D94 EDUCATION FOUNDATION $10,000 TUITION RAFFLE RULES
An educational scholarship in the amount of $10,000* will be awarded to the winning ticket holder and will be paid to the qualified educational establishment of his/her choice. Tickets will be sold as long as they last or through the date of the drawing. The drawing will be held prior to winter break during the halftime of the last home CHS basketball game.
The $10,000 will be placed in a special investment or trust account to accrue interest until the proceeds are paid to the qualified education establishment as directed by the winning ticket holder. Any accrued interest will add to the value of the scholarship. The scholarship may be used at any qualified college, University or technical school of the winner’s or beneficiary’s choice. The scholarship can be used toward the coast of tuition, books, and other qualified expenses billed through the institution. The winner may use the scholarship, name a beneficiary, an endowment may be established, or a donation given the winner’s name at an accredited school of his/her choice.
Winner need not be present to win. Prize must be claimed within 30 days of notification. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older, although the winner’s designated beneficiary may be younger than 18.
The beneficiary may be changed by the winner until the first payment is received. Proceeds must be fully distributed within seven years from the first payment. Any proceeds remaining after seven years revert back to the Education Foundation. Winner is subject to all raffle procedures, rules, regulation, directives, state and local laws, and for the payment of any applicable taxes. According to the IRS, a raffle ticket is not tax deductible.
Winner should consult a tax adviser as to the tax consequences of any award.
Winner agrees by entering the raffle to authorize the release of his/her name and likeness for promotional purposes. On average, odds for winning are 1 in 1,000 or better dependent upon the actual number of tickets sold.
*If 1,000 tickets are NOT sold, the gross receipts will be allocated on the following basis: 40% to the winning ticket holder and 60% to the CHS D94 Education Foundation/Activities. The CHS Education Foundation will evenly split proceeds with the student organization recording the sale of particular tickets.
